1.       ANNOTATE: In reading Conrad in the Subtext app, annotate, discuss and make public some of your comments so we can see them as a whole class.
2.       FREUD: Read the pdf excerpt of Freud’s Civilizations and its Discontents (in KNO or PREFERABLY in Subtext)
3.       KARL: Read Ross Murfin and Frederick Karl “Danse Macabre” on a psychoanalytic reading of Heart of Darkness
4.       APPLY LENS: Use Freud, Murfin, & Karl to shed light on Heart of Darkness
5.       BLOG: Make your blog posts an exploration of connecting the two (or three) texts together—meaningfully.
6.       PRESENT: In class, work in pairs to make short, 2-minute presentations (oral, in Keynote, your blog, in PowerPoint, Cloud-On, pinterest, podcast with iPad or iPhone, or whatever) to share with the class. Use actual phrases or elements from Conrad’s HOD and interpret them through Freud’s lens.
2-min. Presentations:
a.       Work together
b.      Put ideas first, not impressive tech
c.       These are quick weekly fast presentations to help develop your thinking about how Freud sheds light on Conrad.
d.      Use some text!  Don’t oversimplify or talk in sweeping generalities.
e.      You may focus on Freud or Conrad, you are not obligated to give equal time to both.
f.        Have one good idea to share with the class.
g.       Remember to write your own assignment question for your essay due Feb. 3 (or thereabouts).
