| Try to fit in if you're a giraffe! |
Steps to take:
- Brainstorm your own ideas about what pressures your grandparent faced.
- What kind of pressures do you face (internal, external, social)?
- How has social pressure (expectations) changed?
- Why does it exist?
- Should we compromise to fit in? Or ignore it?
- What price do we pay for either decision?
- Consider the pressures on Elizbeth Bennet.
- On Hamlet.
- On Marlow.
- On Gregor Samsa.
- INTERVIEW QUESTIONS: Design several questions that will help your grandparent talk about the pressure he or she felt from his or her parents, from the culture, from circumstances. Describe your grandparents' lives at your age.
- SURVEY QUESTIONS: Design a survey to give to your family or peers or your grandparents' friends that will help you confirm (or not) your theory about pressures then and now.
- BLOG: Prepare your blog posts for Wednesday, Thursday, and Monday reporting on your progress and especially your THEORY or ideas. You may also blog about Kafka.
- THURSDAY: In-class design your new weebly website and navigate the census software: How can the census help us know more abour the two generations?
